AVISS00046 – Night Visual Flight Rules (NVFR) Pilot Skill Set

This Skill Set is part of the AVI Aviation Training Package and targets those pilots who specifically require NVFR Pilot rating in the aviation operational environment.

14 weeks: this comprises 11 teaching weeks and 3 weeks of holidays.

  • Entry Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    Prior to commencing this course, you need to have:

    • Appropriate helicopter pilot qualifications and experience; and
    • Pass a Class Two Medical; and
    • Demonstrated General English Language Proficiency by having:
      – successfully completed a CASA General English Language Proficiency (GELP) Assessment, or
      – attained an Aviation English Language Proficiency (AELP) level of ICAO 3 or higher, issued by a CASA approved Language test centre (for ICAO assessment).
      NOTE: Conditional Entry may be authorised by the Chief Pilot if a Level 2 English Language Proficiency is demonstrated during a BHS administered General English Language assessment, subject to on-going integrated English language training of a minimum of 5 hours per week until a Level 3 (GELP or ICAO 3) as been attained, and subject to no solo flight until a Level 3 (GELP or ICAO 3) General English Language proficiency as been attained.
    • must meet Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) requirements as determined by Becker Helicopters Chief Pilot.
  • Aircraft

    Aircraft Selection

    The training is normally completed in a Turbine Bell206BIII Jet Ranger, as well as an approved Bell206BIII Jet Ranger Flight Simulation Training Device.

    Other Aircraft types

    Becker Helicopters can conduct the flight training in other aircraft if required.  If you require training in a different aircraft, then please let us know your requirements.

    Use of a different aircraft type is subject to the aircraft being approved on the BHS AOC, Flight Instructors holding the appropriate class / type / design feature ratings and endorsements, and suitable insurance arrangements.

    Aircraft Selection

    You will normally select the aircraft you want to complete the training in at the time of enrollment, as it directly affects the course costs. You may change the aircraft you conduct the training in, as long as the request is made in writing, and that you acknowledge the change in course costs writing.

    • 1.3 flight hours Basic IFR
    • 8.7 hours Basic IFR in a Simulator
