This has been a collaborative effort between Becker Helicopters, the Whyalla Council and Defence SA. South Australia offers a perfect location for the business to further grow and expand.

On 9 May, Mike Becker, the Chief Pilot and Flight Instructor at Becker Helicopters Flight Academy, landed his helicopter on Coolum Chase to deliver a scenic flight voucher to our State President, John Forrest.
The scenic flight, for four people over the Sunshine Coast, is just one of the valuable prizes being offered at this year’s St Vincent de Paul Cent Auction at Coolum.

Becker Helicopters Pilots spent a busy weekend in Northern Queensland helping local communities affected by Cyclone Debbie. Aiding efforts to restore basic services to communities, Becker Helicopter pilots have been flying at low-level working along power-line routes looking for damage and directing power workers to their locations so that they can be quickly fixed.

Officers from the Saudi Arabian Ministry of the National Guard began their Initial Entry Rotary Wing training program this week. They began with an orientation of the Becker Helicopters Pilot Academy facilities and helicopters. This marks the commencement of our contract to train Ministry of the National Guard officers. The entire team at Becker Helicopters warmly welcome them and look forward to a very exciting training program.
Capt. Kim Jorgensen showcased Becker Helicopters Pilot Academy’s capabilities in Initial Entry Rotary Wing training at the Dubai Airshow 8-13 November 2015. The airshow was a great opportunity to be recognised as part of the Team Defence Australia consortia and allowed for a number of opportunities to meet and discuss training in Australia with potential clients.
Capt. Fergus Ponder and Fire-Bird 469 are currently based in Grafton. We have been assisting the NSW Rural Fire Service Northern Region during a recent wave of bush fires.
Photographs were taken during an area reconnaissance flight to map several new starts to the North-West of Casino, NSW.
Fire-Bird 469 is equipped with an SEI FAST bucket with multiple drop capability for water bombing missions.

Becker Helicopters is excited to announce we have purchased a MD500E Helicopter as a new addition to our fleet.
It is coming from the Columbus Police Department in Ohio, who are upgrading their fleet for the MD530 model.
Our Director of Maintenance, Michael Yip, has been over a MD taking a factory maintenance course, and overseeing its preparation for shipping. We hope to see it at Becker Helicopters in around July 2015.

When did you complete your instructor rating and how long did it take?
JO: I completed my instructor rating in 2010 and it took about two months. I was working full-time while I completed the combination of PMI (Principles and Methods of Instruction) briefs and ﬂying.
The 2014 North Shore Community Centre, Sunshine Coast, Australia Christmas Celebration which we sponsored was on Saturday and with over two thousand people stopping by to join in all the community Christmas cheer, close to $6,000 dollars was raised for IFYS (Integrated Family Youth Services). Many kind donations of gift wrapped presents were also placed under the Christmas tree from local families to go through to our families in need.
